​Gua Sha

The method of gua sha is a Chinese Medicine treatment that utilizes a simple curved edge tool to break up scar tissue and blockages that are impeding blood flow to certain areas of the body.  The skin is prepared with massage oil and is then stroked with the tool to produce petechiae.  The temporary discoloration is a sign that certain areas of the body are not getting sufficient blood supply and circulation, which is causing pain.  Gua sha increases circulation and feeds the areas that have been deprived of nutrition.  It is used in conjunction with cupping therapy on areas that cannot be utilized with cups.
